"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
Axel walked over to the fire pit. There was a large fire lit, but there wasn't anyone there. Axel shrugged as he sat down on one of the logs. He pulled out his notebook and started writing. It probably wasn't the best light to be writing in, but he didn't really care. He just wanted to write somewhere quiet. He'd been writing for a while, almost writing a complete song, when he heard some footsteps. He looked up and saw someone on the other side of the fire from where he was, so he couldn't see them too well. He smiled at the person, even though he knew they probably couldn't see him too well either.

I don't want the world to see me, 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.
Jac had seen Axel head toward the fire pit a while ago. She'd been talking to one of her friends. So, she had decided to go to the dorms and get his hoodie to return it to him. She walked over to the fire pit, with the jacket draped over her arms, which she had crossed in front of her. She could see him sitting there; and from the distance she was at, she had to admit that he was unmistakingly gorgeous. She got closer, standing on the opposite side of the fire from him. He looked up once she drew near. She moved around the fire and went over to him. "Hey, I, uh, thought you might want your hoodie back," she said with a small smile.

Axel smiled when he saw that the other person was Jac. "Hey, Jac," Axel replied as he put his pencil in the notebook he'd been writing in and shut the notebook on it. "Thanks." He smiled at her as he took the hoodie back, setting it aside. It was too warm by the fire to wear it. "So, how are you?" He couldn't help but smile as he looked at her. The firelight really played up her features. She looked beautiful sitting there. He had really liked being able to actually talk to her the night before, it was really nice. Seeing her again brought back the confusing feelings he felt for the girl he barely knew. He liked her, a lot. It was strange in the fact that he didn't really know her. However, he couldn't ignore the feelings. Well, he could...but he wasn't so sure that he wanted to.

Jac sat down next to him after he took the jacket from her. "I'm good, kind of bored, but good," she replied. She noticed the notebook in his lap and nodded toward it. "What are you working on?" She knew he wrote songs as well as sang. So she thought it might be a song he'd written. The few things she'd heard by the band over the past few years had been pretty good. She really liked them. She knew she'd buy a copy of the album when it came out, but she wasn't going to admit that to him.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
"Oh, uhm, writing a song...well, translating it really," he said. Translating a song wasn't as easy as it sounded. Directly translating a song from German to English didn't work, because some of the time it just didn't make sense. So, it had to be re-worded just a little but keep the meaning the same. "It's one of our older songs, but it's one of my favorites. I wrote the lyrics and Georg, Gustav, and John wrote the music." Axel had always been so impressed the way that they could write songs in separate areas and make them sound like they were meant to be together. Usually either the others would record them playing something they wrote, or Axel would give them lyrics. Then, if Axel gave them lyrics they'd write music for it, and if they gave him music, he'd write lyrics for it. It was kind of a weird system, but it worked for them.

Jac brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them as Axel talked. She lay her head on her knees, still looking over at him. He seemed really happy while talking about music or the band. Every time it got brought up his smile would just light up his eyes, and...Jac stopped that train of thought and smiled at him. "Can I hear it?" she asked. "You don't have to if you don't want to; but, I'd like to hear it." She had always loved his voice every time she'd heard him sing around the camp. She was curious about this song, one that apparently he'd not translated yet.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
Axel smiled when she asked to hear the song. "Uhm, it's not finished...the translating anyway; but, I don't mind sharing what I've got done," he told her. He liked to sing, so he never minded being asked to sing. Unless he was sick, then he did; because, he refused to sing when he was sick in order to save his voice. Axel opened the notebook and smiled down at the words. "I've only got the first verse and the chorus," he said. He smiled over at her again before he began to sing. "I'm staring at a broken door There's nothing left here anymore My room is cold It's making me insane I've been waiting here so long But now the moment seems to come, I see the black clouds coming up again. Running through the monsoon Beyond the world, To the end of time, Where the rain won't hurt Fighting the storm, Into the blue, And when I lose myself I think of you, Together we'll be running somewhere new Through the monsoon. Just me and you" When he finished singing, he looked over at Jac with a smile. He wanted to know what she thought. That had been the first time he'd actually sang the song in English. So, he was kind of nervous about it. He bit his lip slightly as he waited for her to say something.[/blockquote][/size]

Jac listened to Axel as he sang. The song was beautiful, slightly sad, and very sweet. As always she loved his voice as he sang. When he finished singing he smiled at her and bit his lip. Which she found to be unbelieveably cute. She lifted her head off of her knees and said, "That's a great song. It's...strong." The song did bring up a thought to her though. She'd been so distracted by her conflicting thoughts, she didn't even stop to think that there could already be someone in his life. After all, he did live over in Germany and he could have a girlfriend over there. "Was it written for anyone in particular?" she asked, looking at the fire instead of at him.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
Axel smiled when she said that it was a good song. "Thanks," he said. When she asked if it was for someone he laughed. "No, it's not. I was...uhm, fifteen when I wrote the original. I don't even remember what my inspiration was." He smiled at her again. He wondered why she asked. He hoped it was because she liked him too. He wasn't going to ask and push his luck, though. He had finally gotten her to talk to him as a friend for the first time in two years.

Jac smiled slightly when she heard he hadn't written the song for anyone. She looked over at him and said, "So how come you're over here writing songs by yourself when you could be hanging out with practically any girl of your choice?" She was teasing him slightly, but she was curious as to why he was by himself. She usually never saw him alone; yet, for the second time in two nights she found him to be without his friends around.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
Axel smiled at the teasing tone in her voice. It was a good sign that at least they were on the right track to being friends. "Well, I'm not really alone, now am I?" he replied. "And I don't know about having my choice of the girls...but, I know I'm just fine talking to the one I'm with now." He smiled brightly at her. He really was glad that she was there talking to him. He had gone over there to be alone; but, he'd rather spend his time talking to her than translating songs.

Jac couldn't stop the light blush that creeped onto her face when Axel said he was fine talking to her. She didn't know why, it wasn't that big of a complement...if it was one at all. Jac could hear Emily's advice from the night before ringing in her head. She glared toward the dorms, even if Em wasn't there. Jac didn't want to hear her advice at the moment. She didn't want to like Axel; but, she did. She knew she did, even if she didn't want to awknowledge the fact. "Well, alright," she finally said, "so you're not alone; but, usually I see you surrounded by people. Any reason you felt like ditching them tonight?" She thought she sounded a little nosy, but she had to say something to stop herself from thinking so much.

Axel scoffed playfully when she asked why he was ditching his friends. "I'm not ditching my friends. Everyone has things to do tonight; even if they didn't I'd have found someplace to go write." He smiled at Jac before looking down at the notebook. Being with her made his mind reel. So many thoughts ran though his head it was hard to keep them straight. This girl was definatly like no other...and it was torture because Axel had no idea what to do. "How did you know I was out here, anyway?" he asked, remembering that she had brought his hoodie back, which meant she knew he was over there.

"You walked right past me and my friends back there," she replied, pointing out in front of her. "After I finished talking I decided to bring it back." She smiled gently at him before looking back at the dancing flames. Once more as they sat in silence, she became painfully aware of how close he was to her. The little voice in her head started panicing, telling her to run fast and run far. She didn't that time, though. She didn't know why, but she stayed.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
"Oh, I didn't se--" started Axel, but he was cut off by his cell phone playing a really cutsie ringtone that he usually got made fun of for when it went off. He quickly pulled out his cell phone, saying, "Sorry." He put it on speaker phone and accepted the call. Immediatly a cheerful voice said, "Hey, Axe! Someone wanted to say good-night!" Axel smiled brightly before another voice came over the phone. A very tiny and cute voice said, "Night, night Uncle Axe!" Axel laughed, still smiling as he said, "Night, night, Tini!" He smiled over at Jac when the first voice came back. "You know she absolutly adores you. Give my love to our annoying brother, 'kay?" Axel nodded, though his sister couldn't see him. "Kay. Night sis." Axel hung up the phone and looked back over at Jac. "Sorry," he said again.

Jac put her hand up to her mouth and giggled a bit when his cellphone went off. That was not a ringtone she ever expected him to have. She watched with a smile as Axel's whole face lit up while talking to the person on the phone. Then she heard the little girl, and saw the way he smiled. His niece obviously meant a lot to him. Watching him, she found herself feeling even more attracted to him. When he apologized again, she smiled at him and said, "That's okay. So, how old is your niece?" She thought it was so cute the way he reacted to her, and from the sound of it, he meant as much to that little girl as she meant to him.

"Nimm meine Hand, wir fangen nochmal an. Spring nicht. Ich schrei in die Nacht für Dich, lass mich nicht im Stich Spring nicht."
Axel smiled when Jac asked about his niece. "She's a little over three years old," he replied. She was only three, but she'd already stolen the heart of everyone in Axel's family. She was the sweetest little girl ever. She liked Axel a bit more than John, but loved to pull on John's hair. "She lives up in South Carolina with my sister and her husband," he said, still smiling brightly. "But, they surprised me and John by being at our aunt's house when we got here this year. So, I was really happy to be able to see her again." Axel knew he was rambling, but he didn't really care. He loved talking about his niece. She was just...well as everyone in the family puts it, the star of the show.

Jac smiled at Axel. He talked so lovingly about his niece, it was cute. It made her want to hug Axel really badly, but she didn't. "That's great that you got to see her! Do you get to see her often?" she asked. She knew he lived over in German through the school year, so she didn't know how much he'd actually get to see her. "She sounds adorable." Jac had always had a soft spot for cute kids. She loved them when they were at that sweet and innocent stage. Then, she didn't like them so much when they turned into little brats.

Axel pulled out his phone again and started looking through his pictures to find one of Tini and said, "She is adorable." He smiled brightly as he showed Jac the newest picture he had of her. It was from the day they arrived in Florida. It was on the beach and had been kind of cloudy; but, they had fun anyway. "Her mom was mad at me there for a little while because her first word was my name." He still remembered the angry one a.m. (well, it was one a.m. for him) phone call.

Jac smiled brightly when Axel showed her a picture of his niece. "She is adorable," she replied. One thing she noticed right away was she had Axel's eyes. She wondered if his sister's eyes were the same. She didn't ask though, because that would practically mean admitting that she'd noticed how insanely gorgeous his eyes were. She smiled over at him and said, "It sounds like you've got a really good relationship with her family. It seems like a lot of people don't anymore."

Axel nodded and said, "Yeah, I'm pretty close to my family. I mean, we don't always get along, but we're always there for each other." Axel had always been glad that his family got on well. Jac was right about there seeming to be a lot of familys that didn't. He smiled at her and said, "What about you? Do you have a good relationship with your family?"

Jac smiled and nodded when Axel asked if she had a good relationship with her family. "Yeah, we're pretty close. They're all really supportive of me." They had all stuck by her side when she'd had problems with her friends in junior high. They did support her descision to come to camp (after a little persuasion). They were just happy to see her happy. She felt the same toward them. "Family is some of the most important things you can have." Jac looked at some people walking past and thought one of them looked like Em. She heard Emily's advice again. Jac bit her lip as she considered it...but couldn't bring herself to say anything.

Axel smiled brightly, completely agreeing with what she said about family. He'd always believed that without family of some kind you were really lost. Everyone had some kind of family, whether it be the one you're born into or the one you create with your friends. "So, uhm," he said, trying to make up his mind on whether or not to ask what he wanted. Finally just deciding to say it, he said, "Do you want to hang out sometime?" He hoped that she knew he meant to hang out as in like a date...and not as friends.

Jac was looking at the fire when Axel spoke. She looked over at him when he finished asking his question. She couldn't help but wonder if he meant it like she hoped he did. Wait, she shouldn't be liking this guy...She was distant from people. She didn't let them get close to her...right? She almost let her intial instincts to laugh and tell him no way take over, but instead she smiled and said, "Sure." Even as she said it, she couldn't believe she was actually saying it. She really did like Axel though...which still scared her.
